About Tom

With an outstanding background as a player and coach with over 30 years of tennis experience, Tom Hutcherson brings both his passion and his expertise to the court, helping you believe & achieve!

 

I'm a PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) tennis teaching professional certified in three categories: Adult Development, Junior Development 10 & Under, and Junior Development 11 to 17. As a Junior Team Tennis (JTT) coach I have taken two teams to the USTA JTT National Championships. In 2012 my 18 & Under team won the National Championships. I've been to 14 USTA National Championships as either a player or coach and in 2014 I was named "Tennis Man of the Year" by the Eastern Section of the United States Tennis Association. 

 

If you're looking for a way to get back into the game or to introduce your child to tennis...try one of my special clinics: Tennis Tikes (4 to 7); Tennis Gnats (10 & Under); Future Stars (11 to 17); Adults (18+). All levels are welcomed!

 

 

About Sam

Sam was born in Estill, South Carolina. He attended Estill High School where he played tennis from 1981 – 1985. He also played tennis at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. 

 

Sam has been actively involved in tennis since 1980. He received his PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) certification in 2020. Sam played in the USTA Men’s league in South Carolina and Georgia. He also played in the Mixed Doubles league in Georgia and is currently a 4.5 player in Georgia. He won the City Division for the Men’s league and Mixed Doubles league in the Savannah area. He has also won the State Division for Mixed Doubles in Savannah area.  

Sam has been married to his wife Karen for more than 30 years. They have 3 children and 1 grandchild. Sam enjoys playing and teaching tennis. His son is a football player at the University of Houston, and he loves to attend his games when possible.  He loves to watch sports and movies.
